Academic Writing Setup

This skill configures Claude for the output side of academic work: writing theses, journal papers, conference submissions, dissertations, and abstracts. It pairs with research-setup (input side — reading papers, notes) and knowledge-base-setup (personal notes) but focuses on producing manuscripts.

Use this skill when the project is primarily a LaTeX or Typst document, not a literature survey or a generic research notebook.

Handoff context: Read skills/_shared/consume-handoff.md and run it with the handoff block (if any). The helper guarantees the following locals: detected_language, existing_claude_md, inferred_use_case, repo_signals, graphify_candidate. Use detected_language for all user-facing prose; generated file content stays in English.

Cascade mode: When the handoff context carries source_skill: "research-setup", this skill is running as the second leg of a cascade invoked from research-setup. In that mode:

• Do NOT re-run language detection — use the parent's detected_language directly.
• If superpowers_offered: true, SKIP the Superpowers offer in Step 1 entirely. Treat superpowers_installed as whatever the parent resolved it to. Do not re-prompt the user.
• All other steps (toolchain probe, Q1–Q6 context questions, artifact generation, subagent offer, hook offer) still run. The user explicitly opted into the writing-side setup; they still need to answer discipline / stack / citation-style questions.

On direct or orchestrator dispatch, both markers are absent and this skill behaves exactly as before.
