Astro Frontend Standards

For Astro projects — content-focused, mostly-static sites that use the islands architecture: server-rendered HTML by default, with individual interactive components ("islands") selectively hydrated in the browser. Islands may be authored in Astro's own .astro component syntax, or in React, Vue, Svelte, or another supported UI framework. Extends the framework-agnostic rules in the core-standards skill with Astro-specific APIs, conventions, and tooling.

When to use this skill

• Setting up or reviewing contributor rules for a new or existing Astro project.
• Deciding whether a component needs to be a client island at all, and if so, which client: directive it should use.
• Writing or auditing .astro pages, layouts, components, or Content Collections.
• Investigating an Astro site's PageSpeed Insights / Lighthouse score.
• Generating a CLAUDE.md/.cursor/rules/AGENTS.md for an Astro codebase.
