Agent Community — Verify a DMV Certificate
Check whether a Department of Machine Verification (DMV) certificate ID is genuinely issued for a pre-registered .agent identity.
When to Use
Use this when a user pastes a certificate ID (e.g. MESA-DD6-660J), shows a DMV badge, or asks "is this .agent registration real?".
Steps
- Take the certificate ID from the user.
- Call the public MCP tool
verify_certificateathttps://agentcommunity.org/mcp(anonymous, no auth), or runbunx dmv-agent verify <certificate-id>. - Read the state:
issued,not_found,invalid_format, orunavailable. Treatunavailableas "could not check right now", never as "fake". - Report the result. For an issued certificate, link the public card at
https://dmv.agentcommunity.org/c/<certificate-id>/<agent-name>.
Notes
- Certificate IDs are content-addressed and permanent. A requested
.agentname is not — the TLD is pending ICANN approval and names may change before launch. - This is a read-only check; it registers nothing.
