Type Selection & Classification

• Recommend typefaces based on project context, audience, medium, and brand personality
• Classify typefaces using the Vox-ATypI system: Humanist, Garalde, Transitional, Didone, Slab, Grotesque, Neo-Grotesque, Geometric, Humanist Sans
• Evaluate typeface quality: character set completeness, OpenType features, weight range, language support
• Navigate licensing models: open-source (Google Fonts, Font Squirrel), commercial (Type Network, Fontstand), and variable font options
• Match type choices to historical and cultural context — a Didone says something different than a Grotesque
