Open Design is an open-source, local-first alternative to Claude Design. It transforms coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, etc.) into design engines by providing 31 composable skills, 129 brand-grade design systems, and sandboxed preview with HTML/PDF/PPTX/MP4 export capabilities.
What It Does
- Agent-Native Design: Detects 16 coding-agent CLIs on your PATH and orchestrates them through structured design workflows
- Multi-Format Generation: Web prototypes, mobile apps, pitch decks, slides, images (gpt-image-2), videos (Seedance 2.0), and motion graphics (HyperFrames)
- Design Systems: 129 built-in systems including Linear, Stripe, Vercel, Apple, Notion, and 57 design skills from awesome-design-skills
