When to Use

• A patient has two or more insurance plans and the user needs to know which pays first
• A claim was denied or underpaid with a COB-related reason code (CO-22, OA-22, CO-23, OA-23, CO-25)
• A Medicare claim needs MSP screening before billing Medicare
• A biller is sequencing a crossover claim (Medicare → Medicaid or Medicare → secondary commercial)
