Journal positioning
Physics Reports is Elsevier's review journal, originating as Physics Letters C, that publishes long, comprehensive review articles across the full breadth of physics. Its defining character is monograph-scale depth: a Physics Reports article is intended to become the standard reference on its topic, exhaustively surveying the theory, methods, results, and open problems of an active field. Reviews are typically invited but the journal also considers proposals, and the expected length is far beyond a normal journal article — often dozens to over a hundred pages.
