Plan A Screencast
Create a production brief that makes recording straightforward. The central teaching pattern is a stairstep: anchor the viewer in something familiar, introduce one new idea, and land it before climbing again.
Process
1. Define The Promise
Inspect the user's source material first. Resolve:
- Viewer: a specific audience and its starting level
- Problem: the obstacle or question this video addresses
- Outcome: what the viewer can understand or do afterward
- Point of view: what the presenter recommends, based on experience
- Format: standalone video or one lesson in a series
Write the promise as: "This helps [viewer] go from [starting point] to [outcome] by [approach]."
The promise is complete when examples, vocabulary, prerequisites, and depth can all be judged against it.
