Paper Review
Overview
Use this skill to turn a paper into research-ready notes instead of a vague summary. Focus on the research question, method, experimental design, evidence quality, limitations, and what the user can reuse in their own work.
Use the local document skills when the source is a file:
- For PDFs, use the existing
document-skills/pdfworkflow to extract text and tables as needed. - For PPTX or DOCX supplements, use the sibling
pptxordocxskills when the paper package includes slides, appendices, or reviews in those formats.
When To Use
Use this skill when the user asks for any of the following:
- Read and explain a paper PDF
- Summarize a paper for study, literature tracking, or group meeting
- Extract the method, model, theorem, dataset, or experiment design from a paper
- Judge whether a paper is strong, weak, reproducible, or useful for a thesis/project
- Compare a target paper against the user's current direction, baseline, or idea
Do not use this skill for broad multi-paper synthesis. Use literature-review for that.
