Break Down a PRD
Turn a PRD into an ordered set of tracer bullets — thin, end-to-end, always-demoable increments — where each bullet is a self-contained artefact whose tasks are classified AFK (an agent can complete it unsupervised) or HIL (a human must be in the loop), wired into a dependency tree that runs as much in parallel as the work allows. This skill plans the work; it does not execute the tasks.
Available scripts
scripts/skillsrc.py— Reads and writes thebreak-down-prdoutput directory in.draekien/.skillsrc.
Session start
Resolve the output directory: run uv run scripts/skillsrc.py --config .draekien/.skillsrc --skill break-down-prd get outputDir --default .draekien/break-down-prd to read the output directory (default: .draekien/break-down-prd). If the script is unavailable, parse .draekien/.skillsrc as JSON directly and read break-down-prd.outputDir; default to .draekien/break-down-prd if absent. Note <outputDir>/<prd-slug>/ (where <prd-slug> is the kebab-cased feature name) as the destination for the breakdown — do not create it or write to it yet; the actual write happens in Write the breakdown, after the PRD is read and, if the directory is new under .draekien/, after the user confirms its creation.
Get the PRD
Work from a PRD in the draft-a-prd format — Problem Statement, Goals / Success Criteria, User Stories, Testing Decisions, Out of Scope, Additional Notes, Open Questions. Use a file path if the user gives one; otherwise use the PRD already in the conversation; otherwise ask where it is. If the PRD does not use this format, map its content onto these sections and note any absent ones; missing Open Questions and missing measurable Goals must both be surfaced as gaps in the coverage table before proceeding — as their own rows (e.g. | Open Questions section | ⚠️ MISSING FROM PRD |), not as task-coverage rows, since no PRD item exists yet to map to tasks.
Structure as tracer bullets
A tracer bullet is a thin slice that runs end-to-end in the real system — lean but complete, with real structure and error handling, not a throwaway prototype. The breakdown is an ordered sequence of bullets:
