Drupal Deploy Safety

Most deploy failures are not bugs in the feature. The code works on the developer's machine. It breaks during the trip to production: the order of operations, a process that gets killed halfway, a hook that runs once per database, or a file that never made it into the commit. Each section below covers one way this happens, why it happens, how to detect it, and the guard.
