Objective

Produce one usable local repository at a verified destination without overwriting unrelated files or silently weakening repository completeness.

Use When

• Initialize a new repository in an empty or intentionally selected directory.
• Clone a repository, including explicit shallow, partial, bare, mirror, single-branch, or no-checkout variants.
• Choose an initial branch name or verify the default branch after setup.
• Diagnose setup-time destination collisions or incomplete clone requirements.
