Reject literal English calques and word-stacking calques. Bulgarian looks Slavic on the surface (Cyrillic, gender, aspect) but is structurally unique among Slavic languages — it lost cases, gained a postposed article, and built an analytic future and renarrative mood system. Russian-style declension does NOT apply. Serbian-style word order does NOT apply. Bulgarian patterns its own way.

There is no bg-MK (Macedonia uses Macedonian, a separate standard despite ~70% mutual intelligibility). There is no Latin-script standard for Bulgarian. Bulgarian is always Cyrillic.
Transliteration (the official 2009 Bulgarian Transliteration Act maps Cyrillic to Latin: София → Sofia, Пловдив → Plovdiv) exists only for passport/road-sign use — NEVER for translating UI or marketing copy. If asked to render Bulgarian in Latin script, push back; it is wrong.
