Localize: Irish / Gaeilge (ga → Gaeilge)
Scope & Variants
Irish (Gaeilge) is the first official language of the Republic of Ireland under Article 8 of the Constitution (Bunreacht na hÉireann), with English as the second official language. It is also recognised in Northern Ireland (Identity & Language Act 2022) and is an official working language of the EU since 2007.

Three native dialects (Na Canúintí)
Native Irish survives in Gaeltacht regions and has three traditional dialects:

| Cúige Mumhan (Munster) | Kerry, Cork, Waterford | Strong stress on long syllables; preserves old do perfective particle. |
| Cúige Chonnacht (Connacht) | Galway (Conamara), Mayo | Most-spoken dialect. Distinctive pronunciation of broad/slender. |
| Cúige Uladh (Ulster) | Donegal | Closest to Scottish Gaelic; distinctive intonation; some unique lexis. |
