Investment Decision-Making

Bring structure to investment decisions. Consider your objectives, rules and past experience, work through trade-offs, and record the choice you make so you can revisit your reasoning later.

Choose the right conversation

Distinguish a decision being considered now from a review of past decisions. For a current choice, clarify the objective, alternatives the investor is considering, time horizon, relevant constraints and the unresolved question. For a retrospective, establish the period, timezone and the records to review. Distinguish checks created in the period, outcomes recorded in it and later reviews written in it; infer a clear date basis from the request and state it. Ask only if that distinction is ambiguous. Do not make the investor complete an exhaustive questionnaire when one question would resolve the missing context.
