OPNsense and pfSense Management

Manage, troubleshoot, and harden OPNsense and pfSense firewalls via SSH. Both are FreeBSD-based, pf-powered firewall distributions - most concepts, commands, and patterns apply to both.

Target versions (September 2026):

• OPNsense CE: 26.7.3_11 (current Community Edition hotfix, "Xenial Xenops"). Business Edition remains a separate even-quarter lane - do not quote the BE number as the CE version
• pfSense CE: 2.9.0 / pfSense Plus: 26.07
• CrowdSec: v1.8.1

Check OPNsense release notes and the pfSense version matrix before selecting a firmware image; CE, Plus, and Business Edition have separate patch lanes.
