When to Use

Use this skill when:

• A Vertica query is slow and needs diagnosis or redesign
• The user asks how to read or interpret a Vertica EXPLAIN plan
• The task involves projection design for specific query patterns (joins, GROUP BY, ORDER BY, analytic functions)
• The user asks about segmentation, encoding, RLE, sort elimination, or resegmentation
• The user needs to tune INSERT-SELECT, DELETE, or UPDATE operations
• The user wants to query Data Collector tables (dc_*) for performance diagnostics

Use alongside the vertica skill when DDL changes are also required.
