No clear malware or supply-chain backdoor is present. The code performs the expected Markdown-to-PDF workflow and sends content plus the configured API key to its stated service. It has material security weaknesses: untrusted Markdown and metadata can inject HTML, and the curl fallback can permit shell injection through the API key or output path. The predictable temporary file also presents a concurrency and local tampering risk. The shell fallback should use argument-safe process spawning or strict escaping, and all user-derived HTML should be escaped or sanitized according to the PDF renderer's threat model.
