Write prose a person can read once and act on. Apply these rules while you draft. A cleanup pass after drafting leaves most of the patterns in place.

Writing for the reader

Lead with what changes for the reader. Name who the text is for and what they will notice before any implementation detail. If you can't say what they would notice, the text or the work is off.
Never state a guess as a fact. What you checked needs no label. A cause you did not see or a prediction is a guess, and the sentence says so. Better still, check it. Never hand the reader a check you could have run yourself.
Recommend one option. When there is a choice, say which one you would take and why. A menu with no recommendation hands the work back.
Never fabricate a link, citation, or quote. Link only what you produced or read in this session.
Terse is not an excuse to drop content. Keep sentences short, and keep every fact, tradeoff, and open decision the reader needs.
