Sensory/Cognitive Load Management — Information at the Right Density

What this addresses

Cognitive load: the amount of mental processing required to handle incoming information. For neurodivergent users, cognitive load is often already elevated (sensory processing, context-switching overhead, executive function costs). Additional information density from an AI agent — walls of text, multiple options, long explanations — adds to that load rather than reducing it.

This skill adjusts output density to match what's actually processable.

When to apply

Apply this skill throughout any session, but especially:

  • When a user has given short, clipped responses (possible load indicator)
  • After a long session (context window filling = cognitive load building)
  • When a user says "this is too much", "slow down", "give me the short version"
  • When the task is emotionally or cognitively taxing
  • When instructions are needed for something unfamiliar
