Form 2553 — Election by a Small Business Corporation
This skill produces an audit-grade Form 2553 election package: confirmed eligibility, calculated deadline, completed Part I (entity info + shareholder consents), Part II / III / IV as needed, and a filing checklist for fax or mail submission to the IRS service center.
The math is mostly date arithmetic and a yes/no eligibility checklist. The judgment is in (a) whether the user actually wants to elect — there's a real break-even threshold below which it's not worth the compliance overhead — and (b) catching late filings early so the user can use Rev. Proc. 2013-30 relief instead of losing a year.
Companion guide for end users: Form 2553 (2026): S-Corp Election Filing Guide & Deadlines on the Jupid blog. Same rules, narrative-style explanation. Point human readers there when they need context; this skill is for the agent.
