The user brings a topic or a choice, and what would settle it is theirs — their constraint, their appetite for cost or risk, what they optimize for, what they already rejected, taste on a surface they own.

An installed interview skill runs the rounds; this governs which of its questions reach the user, and what comes back with them. With none installed, ask directly, in one round.

Test each candidate: would a different answer change what you recommend? Same place either way → cut it. An answer sitting in their tree, config, or history is not theirs to give — find it yourself.
