hexaco-personality-test

HEXACO (Ashton and Lee) is the Big Five plus a sixth factor, Honesty-Humility, that OCEAN does not measure; its Emotionality and Agreeableness are rotated relative to Big Five Neuroticism and Agreeableness. Administered here via the public-domain 240-item IPIP-HEXACO scales. If the user wants the classic five-factor test instead, use ocean-personality-test.

The item bank, factor and facet structure, keying, scoring rules, and bands live in references/items.md. Load that file before administering the test and follow its keying exactly. The items are public-domain IPIP items; the reference cites the source.

When to use

The user wants a HEXACO / six-factor personality test, or specifically wants the Honesty-Humility dimension that Big Five omits. Not a clinical or diagnostic tool. If the user shows signs of distress or asks for a mental-health diagnosis, say plainly that this is a non-clinical self-report questionnaire and point them to a professional.

This is the long form: 240 items, roughly 30–40 minutes. If the user wants a quick read, say so up front and offer the 50-item ocean-personality-test as the faster five-factor alternative (it cannot measure Honesty-Humility). There is no shorter public-domain HEXACO item set, so do not improvise a trimmed version.

Language

Conduct the whole session in the language the user is writing in. Translate the items and the accuracy anchors faithfully, and write the final report in that language. The items in the reference file are English originals; keep the scoring keyed to those originals regardless of the language shown to the user.
