Good Skill = Expert-only Knowledge - What Claude Already Knows
A Skill is a knowledge externalization mechanism — a hot-swappable behavior modifier via Markdown. Edit SKILL.md, save, and the model's behavior changes on next invocation. No training, no GPU, instant effect.
A Skill's value is its knowledge delta: the gap between what it provides and what the model already knows. Expert-only knowledge (decision trees, trade-offs, edge cases, anti-patterns) earns its tokens. Basic concepts and standard patterns waste them — context window is a shared public resource.
