Community-Based Lead Generation
Buyer communities — industry Slack groups, niche Discord servers, professional forums, subreddit communities — are some of the highest-trust environments a B2B buyer inhabits, and also some of the least tolerant of overt selling. Generating leads here requires reversing the usual order: contribute genuine value first, consistently, and let recognition and trust produce leads as a side effect rather than a direct campaign.
Find where your actual buyers already gather
[ ] Industry-specific Slack or Discord communities — often smaller
and less discoverable than a subreddit, and often higher-value
[ ] Professional forums and subreddits relevant to the buyer's role
or industry, not just your product category
[ ] Alumni or membership-body communities for a specific
professional certification or association
The community doesn't have to be about your product category — it more often should be about the buyer's role or industry. A community of finance managers is a better fit for a finance-tools company than a community explicitly about "finance software," which is smaller, more competitive, and more heavily populated by other vendors doing the same thing.
