Law Firm Lead Generation
Legal is one of the best-documented verticals for prospecting. Every regulated firm appears on a public register with its address, its authorised areas and its named principals, maintained by the regulator and current.
The difficulty is the buyer. Lawyers are risk-averse, sceptical of vendors, protective of client confidentiality, and partnerships make decisions slowly and collectively.
Who actually buys
| Firm size | Who decides |
|---|---|
| Sole practitioner | The solicitor. Small budget, personally cautious |
| 2-10 fee earners | Managing partner, with a practice manager influencing |
| 10-50 fee earners | Practice manager or operations director, signed off by partners |
| 50-200 | IT director or COO, with a partner sponsor |
| 200+ | Formal procurement, information security review, long cycle |
The practice manager runs the firm operationally and is the real evaluator for anything below enterprise scale. Partners hold the budget and the veto; the practice manager decides whether it ever reaches them.
Practice area predicts budget better than size. Commercial, corporate and personal injury firms have money and marketing appetite. Legal-aid-dependent practices generally do not.
