Call Connect Rate Optimization

A perfect cold-calling script produces nothing if the call never connects to a live person in the first place, and connect rate is determined by a set of factors mostly unrelated to the script — time of day, day of week, local presence dialing, and caller ID reputation. Fixing these, before touching the script, is often the highest-leverage change available to a team with disappointing call outcomes.

Time of day and day of week genuinely, measurably matter

Generally stronger early morning (before the day fills up) and
late afternoon (after most meetings end),
                      mid-week days
Generally weaker Monday mornings (catching up from the
weekend) and Friday afternoons (checked out
                      for the week)

These patterns vary by role and industry and are worth validating against your own data rather than assumed from a generic rule — but the general shape (edges of the working day, mid-week) holds often enough to be a reasonable starting hypothesis, and testing it against your own connect data is straightforward and worth doing before assuming your current calling schedule is optimal.
