Executive Outreach Register
A C-level executive's inbox is filtered more aggressively, read faster, and often screened by an assistant or filtered by seniority-aware email tools before the executive ever sees it. Writing to them exactly as you'd write to a manager or individual contributor — the same length, the same level of detail, the same tone — is a common and avoidable reason executive outreach underperforms relative to outreach at other levels.
Shorter, more direct, and outcome-focused
Weak a detailed, feature-heavy message explaining how the
product works, written at the length and depth appropriate
for a hands-on evaluator
Strong a brief, business-outcome-focused message an executive can
read and evaluate in under fifteen seconds
An executive is evaluating relevance and priority, not product mechanics — a message answering "why should I personally care about this, at the level I operate at" in two or three sentences outperforms a longer, more detailed pitch that would work better one level down the organization. Save the mechanics and features for the technical evaluator; lead with business outcome and strategic relevance for the executive.
