Reactivation Email Sequences
A dormant customer — someone who once actively used a product or engaged with a brand and has since gone quiet — sits in a specific middle ground between an active customer and a cold prospect: there's a real, usable account history, but re-engaging them still needs a genuine reason, not just a reminder that the relationship exists. A structured, multi-email sequence built around their specific history outperforms a single generic "we miss you" message by a wide margin.
Segment dormancy by depth and by likely cause before writing anything
Recently dormant (weeks) often a temporary lapse — a genuine
nudge is likely to work
Long dormant (months+) needs a stronger, more specific reason
— see churn-winback-leadgen in the
companion lead-gen-channels pack for
the segmentation-by-reason principle,
which applies directly here
Dormant with a known cause a specific reason (a feature gap,
a bad experience, a price change) —
address that reason directly, not generically
