Astro Data Fetching

Purpose

Get external data into Astro at the right time and place: build-time fetches for static pages, request-time fetches for server rendering, and the caching discipline that makes on-demand data fast.

When to Use

Activate when the task involves:

• fetching from REST APIs or GraphQL endpoints
• deciding build-time vs request-time vs client-side fetching
• caching fetched data (build caches, HTTP caching, in-memory)
• external data feeding pages or islands
• replacing client-side fetch waterfalls with server fetching
