Design

Interview the user relentlessly until the design is settled, then write it down and wait for approval.

Process

1. Read the request, PROJECT.md, project AGENTS.md, relevant code, and prior understand output.
2. Run the Interview method below until the frontier is empty.
3. Write the design — docs/<feature-slug>/design.md by default, chat-only for a small change if the user prefers. Put every settled choice in Decisions, and every unsettled one in Open questions.
4. Tailor sections to the task. Include only what matters.
5. Stop and ask: "Please review the design. Reply approved or request changes."

Interview method

Interview the user relentlessly until you reach a shared understanding. Map this as a design tree: every decision branches into the decisions that hang off it.

Work the tree in rounds. The frontier is every decision whose prerequisites are already settled: the questions you can ask now without guessing at answers you haven't heard yet. Ask the whole frontier in one round: number each question and give your recommended answer. Then wait for the user's answers before the next round.
