Diagnose blocking and read a deadlock on Azure SQL Database
Two empty results, two different causes, and the fix for one does nothing for the other. The
blocking DMVs answer only as far as the login's grant reaches. Extended Events does not work the way
SQL Server taught you: Microsoft Learn states there is
no built-in system_health session in Azure SQL Database
and that sessions are database-scoped, so nothing captured your deadlock unless someone built a
session first.
