Start by identifying the exact application release, codebase, board revision, firmware source commit, and operating mode.

Treat application behavior, field data, profiles, wire protocols, and hardware pinouts as separate compatibility surfaces. Shared ancestry or a familiar board name does not make any of those surfaces interchangeable.
