code-walkthrough
Code walkthrough
Follow a real flow through real source.
Steps
-
Choose the question and entry point: a request, command, event, or screen. Inspect repository structure and identify the actual files before explaining.
-
Follow that path in execution order: inputs, transformations, dependencies, outputs, and error handling. Link each step to a file and symbol or line reference.
-
Extract short snippets from the source rather than recreating code from memory. Distinguish observed implementation from inferred intent or uninspected dependencies.
-
Include one concrete example through the flow and identify tests that exercise it. Do not claim the code was run unless it was; keep static analysis separate from runtime evidence.
-
Finish with a small map, important invariants, and the next file to read. Match depth to the learner rather than narrating every file alphabetically.
Output
Flow map | source references/snippets | example trace | key invariants | unknowns.
