Route the need

Identify the question, relevant paths or sources, and evidence needed. Pin candidate identity when retaining or sharing evidence; transient lookups need only relevant freshness. Prefer direct source reading, project-native commands, and existing host capability when they already answer the question proportionately.

Select the smallest adequate capability; keep routine shell/search work direct. Use Irinṣẹ where tool interfaces, limits or evidence semantics need specialist guidance.

Use source retrieval when source format, syntax, symbol identity or search coverage controls the answer, or ordinary retrieval is noisy or incomplete. Choose the representation from the question; a failed text search is not a prerequisite. Tool availability is an observed capability, not a consequence of having a reference here.
