symfony/messenger

If the project contains .ddev/config.yaml, prefix every shell command with ddev (full mapping in the symfony skill's references/ddev.md). Examples target Symfony 7.4, 8.0 and newer — verify the installed version before using newer features.

When to use

You need to dispatch work asynchronously — background jobs, fan-out, cross- service events, retries with backoff. Transports: AMQP, Redis, Doctrine, Amazon SQS, Beanstalkd, in-memory.

Replaces

• Direct php-amqplib use
• Vendor queue SDKs (SQS, Redis-as-queue) when you'd otherwise wrap them
• Hand-rolled "job table" implementations in Doctrine
• Custom event bus implementations
