write-spec
Write spec
Own specification fidelity, approval and optional publication. Follow this procedure in the caller's context; a handoff does not launch an agent. A Shape Work session is not a prerequisite.
Authority and dependencies
Read the target's instructions and relevant product, workflow, tracker and domain pointers. Default to authorized inspection and a conversation draft. Product approval, document-write authority, tracker publication and readiness mutation are separate permissions. Loading this skill grants no implementation, decomposition, installation, delegation, disclosure, spending, model calls, merge or release authority. Protect unrelated work, symlinks and prior history.
Discover conditional companions through runtime/project catalogs or explicit approved locations, never sibling paths. Read complete entries and relevant branch references, record resolved source/revision or digest, and check semantic capabilities. Ambiguous, missing or incompatible helpers block only their dependent responsibility; installation or a legacy to-spec command is not a fallback.
- For unresolved product intent, recommend a bounded
shape-workhandoff: usable discovery brief, decision reuse and preserved concern dispositions. A writing request alone does not require a new discovery session. - For missing or changed material technical/design evidence, use compatible
analyzeonly within authority: inspected readiness, deciding-input freshness and risks without implementation. Current complete evidence needs no rerun. - For changed meanings or qualifying enduring decisions, use compatible
domain-modelingwith its plan-only/approved record gates. Reading existing definitions needs no invocation. - For publication, read publication, including the discovered maintained tracker library. Local drafting needs no tracker companion.
Optional delegation requires separate authority and the discovered Work On execution-contract library, without invoking delivery. Preserve its root ledger, ownership and finite bounds; a worker requests additional work from the root. Direct writing remains the default; no model assessment is required.
