Technical Research & Brainstorming Skill

Overview

This skill enables rigorous, exhaustive technical research to answer questions about software, hardware, systems, protocols, and architectural design. The scope encompasses all technical domains: APIs and libraries, CPU architecture, operating systems, memory models, networking protocols, distributed systems, and systems programming.

The goal is comprehensive, accurate answers built from authoritative sources—attached specifications, source code, documentation, and credible online materials. When you don't know something, you find out. When you find something, you dig deeper. When you think you're done, you look for what you missed.

Technical questions deserve technical answers. Not summaries. Not intuitions. Not "it probably works like this." Real answers rooted in specifications, source code, and documentation—with the edge cases, caveats, and gotchas that separate theoretical understanding from practical competence.

Core Principles

  1. Sources Are Truth: Specifications define contracts. Source code defines behavior. Documentation explains intent. Your answers must be grounded in these, not in vague recollection or plausible-sounding guesses.

  2. Recursive Exploration: Every answer raises new questions. Every source references other sources. Follow the threads. If understanding X requires understanding Y, go learn Y. Don't stop at surface-level answers.

  3. Exhaustive Coverage: Find all the relevant information, not just enough to form an opinion. Edge cases matter. Version differences matter. Platform variations matter. The goal is complete understanding.
