Sorting Downloads

Read ../../../references/safe-mutation-rules.md and follow that workflow. This file adds only what is specific to Downloads.

What "organized" means here

• Nothing loose that is older than 90 days. It is archived, not deleted.
• No byte-identical duplicates. report.pdf and report(1).pdf are one file.
• Installers are gone once installed. A .dmg from eight months ago is dead weight.
• What remains is grouped by kind or by project, never more than one level deep.

Workflow

1. Inventory — never ls -R into context
