Project Naming

A name is chosen from a table, never from a list. Every candidate reaches the owner with its registry row, its meaning check, and its score against the names the owner already likes. The owner's taste is asked for first and never guessed.

When to Apply

• "name this project" / "is there a better name for this?" / "what should I call the package?"
• A name was rejected: hard to pronounce, already taken, or it points the reader the wrong way
• A paper, tool, or dataset needs a name before it is published
