Walter Writes: Writer

Write prose that reads like a person wrote it. Not like a language model predicting the next word.

AI has a fingerprint. It shows up in specific words, phrases, and sentence patterns that appear so consistently across generated output that readers sense something is off, even when they can't say why. This skill keeps that fingerprint out of your work from the first sentence.

Core Rules

1. Avoid the banned vocabulary. Before writing, load the word list in references/phrases.md. These words are not wrong — they're overused. When they appear in your output, replace them with the alternatives listed alongside each one.

2. Don't open with AI phrases. Never start with "In today's world," "It is worth noting that," "One might argue that," or "In conclusion." Get to the point immediately.

3. Use plain verbs. "Use" beats "leverage." "Help" beats "facilitate." "Start" beats "embark." Choose the shorter, more common word unless the specific one earns its place.
