Workflow

Design research by evidence burden, not by topic alone. Identify the book type, reader promise, claims that must be supported, and potential harm if claims are wrong.

Method Selection

• Fiction: research for plausibility, procedures, setting, culture, and constraints.
• Narrative nonfiction: prioritize primary documents, interviews, archives, and timeline reconstruction.
• Practical nonfiction: prioritize reader problem research, case studies, method testing, and competitor analysis.
• Scholarly/technical: prioritize literature review, definitions, technical validation, examples, and citations.
• Visual/hybrid: prioritize visual references, rights notes, page/spread research, and caption accuracy.
