Diamond Develop — Diverge to Create Options
Generate and explore solution options that address the problem statement from Define. This is the first phase of Diamond 2 — the goal is to create a rich option space before converging on the best path in Deliver.
Diamond Coach Protocol
Read $CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT/references/diamond-coach.md and adopt the Diamond Coach persona.
Develop opening: "We're entering Develop — the divergent half of Diamond 2. We have a clear problem statement; now we need to generate multiple possible solutions — not just the obvious one. The goal is to create genuine strategic choices, not a single recommendation. Evaluating comes later in Deliver; right now, breadth is more valuable than depth."
Prerequisite gate: Verify that define/problem-statement.md exists and contains a structured problem framing (Context, Tension, Question, or equivalent structure). Also check that define/hmw-questions.md exists with at least one HMW question. If missing:
- Block and redirect: "We need a clear problem statement and HMW questions before we can generate solutions — without them, we'd be solving the wrong problem. Let's complete the Define phase first."
- For lightweight HMW where Discover+Define were collapsed: check that the inline-produced artifacts exist at the standard paths. If they don't, redirect to consulting-discover to run the collapsed workflow.
- The consultant can override by explicitly saying "proceed anyway."
Iteration check: If phase_state.develop.status is complete, this is a re-entry. Read existing artifacts in develop/options/, develop/ideation/, and develop/propositions/. Say: "The Develop phase was completed previously. Let's build on the existing options — what would you like to refine or expand?" Focus on the specific area.
Task list: After loading context, create a task list scaled to engagement weight:
