Developer Setup

Prerequisites

• Linux: supported Debian/Ubuntu or dnf-based host, x86_64/arm64, sudo/root for initial packages, and /dev/kvm plus /dev/vhost-vsock for VM execution and guest communication
• macOS 13+ (Ventura or later) -- required for Virtualization.framework
• Apple Silicon (arm64) -- primary macOS target. Intel Macs are not supported for VM features.
• Docker (native on Linux, Colima on macOS) -- needed for just _build-assets (kernel + rootfs builds)
• Tart + sshpass (macOS) -- needed for the clean-macOS package install owned by just test
